About
So I recently spent six years in college graduating from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I chose that major, initially, out of ignorance. I wanted to design cars, or possibly study astrophysics. It turns out that I don’t care for the level of math and physics it takes to study the latter. As for the former, well, Industrial Design would have been a better choice of majors. I stayed with AE for different reasons, but mostly because I was in my fourth year when I determined all this.
Since then I focused more of my time on developing my hobby of graphic arts and design. Though I took only one formal class, which was in web design, I taught myself most of the Macromedia and Adobe suites. Only since then, have I have determined how strange real life can start to look after I’ve been staring at a computer screen all day.
Now I’ve elected to do the Peace Corps as an antithesis to that college experience. Hopefully it will be two plus years of unstructured progress for everyone with plenty of time left over for me to ponder my favorite things in life and figure out how to make a living from them.
Right now I think I would like to study things along the lines of a tinkerer. Such as:
- Electrical Engineering: Circuitry, Principles, & DSP
- Computer Science: Principles, Theory’s, & Languages
- Mechanical Engineering: Physics refresher, Thermodynamics, & Design
- Industrial Design: Aesthetics, & Ergonomics
- Art: History
And maybe also something of materials and manufacturing processes. I will probably be going to go back to school for a Masters degree when I get back. I’d like to study all these, but I am not sure what major classification that would fall under. Then again, I haven’t stopped considering instead, a job or another adventure. So we’ll see; wish me luck.
