Last thursday The BDQ co-hosted, with Venturef0rth and PhillyTechMeetup, an event aimed at bringing more designers into the local startup community. We began with some context provided by Elliot Menschik, of Venturef0rth, about how startups are run and what you might expect to encounter when entering one. This was followed up by a great panel discussion and Q&A with four local designers, Jake Wells of ElectNext, Kevin Jackson of Boomi, Philip Tribe of Lokalty and Melissa Morris of Curalate.
We had a great turn-out. It seemed like a lot of people appreciated the opportunity to have some of their questions answered and be able to meet some new people in the local design/entrepreneur space.
A speed dating workshop is now in the works to try and pair local designers to startups in the hopes of finding offering some mutual benefits, great job and internship opportunities and great design skills.
