In an effort to better understand the bike situation here in Philly, Nick and I did some paper research into the laws, plans, and articles that have surrounded it over the past couple of years.
The gist is that currently the city in year 1 or 2 of a 10 year plan to boost the percentage of cyclists from 1.6% to 5% and the argument against it seems to be that this means less parking spots. Oh and why make all these changes for such a small portion of the population…ridiculous really. Anyway, tomorrow — or later today actually — we’re going to crash a bike coalition meeting and try and talk with people.
