A weird idea, I know. This is what our readings are on this week in my seminar class. This video discusses the common thread great leaders have which is to refuse to choose between two bad choices but to use the power inherent in the tension between the bad choices to develop a superior one. Simple to say, extremely hard to execute.
Another, much longer discussion by the same gentleman, Roger Martin, can be found here. In this longer video he discusses the problem with streamlining. How it helps expand businesses, but makes them much more static and thus eventually useless as times change.
